Thus, OHCHR commented on the law adopted by the Parliament of Ukraine on December 8, which amends a number of legislative acts relating to the rights of national minorities, RIA Novosti writes.

It is noted that the law “maintains a discriminatory differential treatment between, on the one hand, national minorities speaking an official EU language and, on the other hand, national minorities whose languages are not official EU languages, such as Russian.”

Earlier, the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language in Ukraine, Taras Kremen, was outraged by the fact that most kindergartens in the country have Russian names such as “Solnyshko”, “Zainka”, “Topolyok” or “Vasilyok”.
