A person in

New Jersey won the $1.12 billion

Mega Millions

lottery jackpot

, breaking a streak of unsuccessful drawings dating back to December. The winning combination was 7, 11, 22, 29, 38 and Mega Ball 4.

From December 8 to this Tuesday, no one had matched all six numbers to win the jackpot in the last 30 draws.

Tuesday's prize is the eighth highest in U.S. lottery history. According to the Mega Millions website, the winning ticket was sold in New Jersey.

Achieving the game's jackpot is difficult because the chances of finding the winning combination are very slim,

one in 302.6 million

.

The 1,120 million jackpot is for a winner who decides to collect the prize in annuities, with an initial payment and then 29 years. Most of the winners choose to receive

the cash prize, which would be $537.5 million

.

The next big lottery drawing will be held on Wednesday:

Powerball has an estimated jackpot of

$865 million. No one has won that prize since New Year's Day, which means 36 draws in a row without a winner.
