The charming language in these important speeches and articles is a true portrayal of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s governing philosophy and a vivid reflection of his personality charm. The "Daily Learning" column of CCTV launched the "Idiom Reading" series, which takes the form of "news cartoons + text reading" to help you understand the charm of General Secretary Xi Jinping's language from different dimensions.

Water benefits all things and benefits all living beings. As a precious natural resource, water is the eternal foundation for the healthy survival and development of human beings, and it is also an important source of nurturing great civilizations.

On May 14, 2021, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out the importance of water at a symposium on promoting high-quality development of the follow-up project of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project. Water is the foundation of survival and the source of civilization.

As the foundation of survival and the source of civilization, the importance of water is self-evident. Throughout the ages, living by water has been the law of human survival and development. The evolution of history, the prosperity of society, and the progress of mankind are all inseparable from the nourishment of water.

Civilization is like water, moistening things silently. The four major ancient civilizations in the world all originated on the banks of rivers, coexisting with and complementing each other: the ancient Babylonian civilization originated in the Mesopotamia river basin, the ancient Egyptian civilization originated in the Nile River basin, the ancient Indian civilization originated in the Indus-Ganges river basin, and the Chinese Civilization originated in the Yellow River Basin and the Yangtze River Basin.

Among the hundreds of civilizations in the world, the Chinese civilization is the only great civilization that has not been interrupted and has developed to this day, and its cultural connotation is also moistened by water. Glittering national treasures such as the "Sky Tree", bronze masks with vertical eyes, painted pottery basins with dancing patterns, and oracle bones from the Yin Ruins were all born out of the matrix of civilization in the Yangtze and Yellow River basins, making people think about them for thousands of years. The Eastern wisdom that "the best is as good as water" in the Tao Te Ching, the founding work of Chinese philosophy, has been passed down to this day.

The best is like water, it is great if it has tolerance. Only a fluid, inclusive and open civilization can spread across the world and allow exchanges and mutual learning.

Unfolding the long scroll of history, the Maritime Silk Road, which originated in the Qin and Han Dynasties, outlines the trajectory of transportation, exchanges, and exchanges between the Chinese nation and overseas countries, and has become one of the bridges for Chinese civilization’s foreign exchanges. China's silk, porcelain, and tea traveled thousands of miles across the wind and waves, while spices, clocks, cotton fabrics and other goods from exotic places enriched the material and cultural life of our people.

The East and the West have carried out economic, trade and cultural exchanges, learning from each other and exchanging knowledge, reflecting the glorious scene of different civilizations complementing each other.

It connects all directions and connects ancient and modern times. This vast blue ocean is not only an economic and trade road, but also a cultural road.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping has delivered a series of important speeches, repeatedly explaining the contemporary value and significance of water as the source of civilization: “The Yangtze River has created a thousand-year context from the Bashan Shu River to the Jiangnan water towns. It is the foundation of the Chinese nation. A representative symbol and an iconic symbol of Chinese civilization." "Yellow River culture is an important part of Chinese civilization and the root and soul of the Chinese nation." "The Grand Canal is the longest artificial canal in the world and a very precious cultural heritage. .”…

On June 2, 2023, General Secretary Xi Jinping highly summarized the outstanding characteristics of Chinese civilization such as "Chinese civilization has outstanding peacefulness" at the symposium on cultural inheritance and development.

The integration of civilizations is unstoppable, and peaceful coexistence is the mainstream of the world. One year ago, on March 15, 2023, General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed the global civilization initiative for the first time. As international scholars have said: "This is the most ambitious peace initiative proposed by a great country and a great civilization to the people of the world."

Water is the basis of survival, the source of civilization, and the foundation of peace. On March 26, the Boao Forum for Asia 2024 Annual Conference will be held in Boao, Hainan. Looking back at the annual meetings over the years, keywords such as "peace", "development", "unity" and "cooperation" have been mentioned many times. At the opening ceremony of the Boao Forum for Asia 2022 Annual Conference, President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech, emphasizing that all countries must follow the trend of the times of peace, development, cooperation, and win-win, move in the right direction of building a community with a shared future for mankind, join hands to meet challenges, and cooperate to create a future .

Over the years, as the entrance music and background music of the Boao Forum for Asia, "Wanquan River is Clear and Clear" has always resounded throughout the venue and been sung everywhere. Outside the main venue, the clear Wanquan River joins the Jiuqu River and Longgun River, carrying the beautiful hopes of civilization, peace, friendship, and cooperation, flowing into the vast sea, and rushing forward.
