Siege versus siege

The latest angry events witnessed by the Kingdom during the past two days were two massive marches, organized near the headquarters of the Israeli embassy in the Rabieh area in the capital, Amman, during which Jordanian security forces prevented thousands of angry protesters from reaching the embassy headquarters. The event came at the invitation of the Jordanian Youth Gathering to Support the Resistance, denouncing the genocide. The massacre to which the residents of the Gaza Strip are subjected, and in rejection of the siege imposed on Al-Shifa Medical Complex.

Party and youth activist Khaled Abu Rumman said in an interview with Al Jazeera Net that “the recent activities towards the Israeli embassy come within the framework of besieging it, until the Jordanian government announces a clear position to completely sever its relationship with the occupation once and for all, in light of the Israeli contempt for Palestinian blood, and talk of cases of rape.” of Palestinian women in the vicinity of Al-Shifa Medical Hospital.

Abu Rumman said, "The imposition of the popular siege on the Israeli embassy in Amman continues on a daily basis, as long as the siege remains imposed on Al-Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip, and until the Israeli army allows food and medical aid to enter the northern Strip without conditions."

Public anger

The stagnation prevailed in the Jordanian markets during the days of the month of Ramadan, as restaurants, cafes, and sweets shops witnessed a significant decline in demand, by no less than 30%, due to the prevailing conditions in the Gaza Strip, at a time when a popular campaign led by the Jordan Chamber of Commerce began, to share a meal. Iftar in Ramadan with the Gaza Strip, who are facing the threat of famine and suffering from hunger.

Many charitable organizations and unions began to interact with the popular campaign, preparing hundreds of thousands of iftar meals daily for the residents of the Gaza Strip, from those carried by Jordanian Air Force planes, to drop them on the residents of the Gaza Strip on a regular basis since the beginning of the month of Ramadan.

On the other hand, the Israeli authorities re-talked about their old project of building a 309-kilometre-long wall along the border with Jordan. This comes after Hebrew media reported the arrest of two gunmen after they crossed the border towards the Palestinian territories, coming from Jordan, and in possession of weapons.

Israeli security sources said that the two young men were caught carrying a Kalashnikov weapon and two ammunition magazines, near the Betzalel settlement, located on the lands of the village of Fasayel in the Jordan Valley region. This attempt came amid mounting and repeated popular calls in all activities and protests to demand the opening of the borders with Palestine.
