China News Service, March 26. According to the official website of the Boao Forum for Asia, on the morning of March 26, the first press conference of the Boao Forum for Asia 2024 Annual Conference was held in Boao, Hainan. At the press conference, Li Baodong, Secretary-General of the Boao Forum for Asia, welcomed nearly 2,000 representatives from more than 60 countries and regions and more than 1,100 journalists from about 40 countries and regions to attend the annual meeting.

Li Baodong introduced that the theme of this year’s annual meeting is “Asia and the World: Common Challenges, Common Responsibilities.” The problems currently facing the world are numerous and complex. Only when the international community jointly meets the challenges, shoulders responsibilities and strengthens cooperation can the world continue to be on the track of peace and prosperity.

This year's annual meeting has set up "4+1" topics, namely "World Economy", "Technological Innovation", "Social Development", "International Cooperation" and "Jointly Meeting Challenges". The aforementioned four sections start from different fields, conduct in-depth analysis of the current challenges and opportunities facing Asia and the world, and explore common interests and common responsibilities in world development. The fifth section discusses how to strengthen cooperation and meet challenges together from the perspectives of different guests. This section includes a series of bilateral dialogues and entrepreneur roundtables. It is hoped that through the discussion of the above five topics, we can further enhance the consensus that achieving sustainable development is the common interest of all countries in the world, and unity and cooperation is the common responsibility of the international community.

Li Baodong emphasized that the current world economic growth is weak, the international situation is intertwined with chaos, natural disasters and extreme weather occur frequently, the need for global governance is becoming increasingly urgent, and world development and security are facing many challenges. However, the world economy is gradually emerging from the haze of the epidemic, and technological innovation has brought new growth momentum. The forum hopes that through discussions at this annual meeting, we can pool the wisdom of all parties, unite the power of Asia and the world, and work together to overcome difficulties and create a better future.
