The State of Qatar welcomed on Tuesday the UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, stressing at the same time the continuation of indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel.

Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari said, "We welcome the Security Council's decision calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during the month of Ramadan."

Al-Ansari explained that talks are still ongoing between the parties at the level of technical teams. He added that there is no timetable for negotiations, "but we are continuing with our partners in mediation efforts."

He pointed out that there are difficulties on the ground related to the negotiations, "but the meetings are continuing in Doha."

He said, "We hope that the Security Council's decision will have a positive impact on the ceasefire negotiations."

Regarding the delivery of aid, Al-Ansari said that “there is no alternative to UNRWA, not only in Gaza, but in all areas where the agency works.”

On Monday, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to Israeli aggression since October 7.

Until now, the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip has led to the death of 32,000 people, most of them women and children, in addition to the destruction of infrastructure and service facilities, and the displacement and starvation of the population.
