The arrival on the peninsula of

a new and deep storm called Nelson will leave

strong gusts of wind

in the coming days

, adverse coastal phenomena and abundant rainfall in large areas of the territory during

Holy Week.

The storm, named by Spain through the Meteorological Agency (Aemet), will affect the peninsula in the coming days, Aemet points out on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

This is the fourteenth storm of the 2023-2024 season.

In some areas of Spain, such as the Sierra de Cádiz, the snow is already turning some of its towns white this Thursday, such as Villaluenga del Rosario, among others. And there are several Andalusian towns that have been forced to cancel or delay Easter events due to the storm.

Meanwhile, in the Balearic Islands there is a yellow alert for winds of up to 70 kilometers per hour. The State Meteorological Agency warns on its website that from 4 p.m. there will be waves of 2 to 3 meters high on the coast of Pitius and the west, south and north winds of Mallorca due to winds of force 7 with gusts of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour.

The Valencian Community will not be spared either, which is already expecting rainfall this Tuesday and the snow level will drop to 1,000 meters.
