Lebanese Hezbollah announced that it had carried out six attacks against Israeli forces, and while two people were killed in an Israeli raid, a leader of the Islamic group survived an Israeli drone attack in eastern Lebanon.

The party said that its fighters bombed with artillery the headquarters of the Liman Brigade in the Western Galilee, the Al-Malikiyah and Bayad Blida sites in the Upper Galilee, and the Zabdin site in the occupied Shebaa Farms. The party also targeted the Birkat Risha site with missiles and a gathering of Israeli soldiers in Tayhat Hill.

For its part, the Civil Defense in southern Lebanon said that two people were killed and three injured in an Israeli raid that targeted the town of Mays al-Jabal.

The Israeli army spokesman said that Israeli warplanes raided a Hezbollah military building in Mays al-Jabal and a military point containing members of the party in the village of Abu Shash in southern Lebanon. The army added that its forces detected the launching of shells from Lebanon towards several Israeli towns and responded by bombing the launching site.

Israeli fighter jets launched five raids on the towns of Mays al-Jabal, Tayr Harfa, and Al-Adisa, and Israeli artillery bombed the surroundings of the towns of Hula, Mays al-Jabal, and Naqoura.

In another development, the leader of the Islamic Group, Muhammad Assaf, survived an Israeli drone attack that targeted him on Sunday in the town of Al-Suwairi in the western Bekaa, eastern Lebanon, according to a Lebanese security source.

A Syrian civilian was killed on Sunday in the strike on the road to the town of Al-Suwairi in the Western Bekaa, according to the official Lebanese National News Agency.

This is the first time that the Israeli army has targeted this area since the beginning of the confrontations with Hezbollah last October, noting that it recently carried out several raids on the city of Baalbek, which is also located in the Bekaa, including 5 raids last Saturday evening.

On February 10, Hamas leader Basil Saleh survived an Israeli bombing that targeted his car in the town of Jadra, which is located 40 kilometers from the Lebanese-Israeli border.

On January 2, Israel assassinated Saleh Al-Arouri, deputy head of Hamas’s political bureau, along with others, including two leaders in the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the movement’s military wing, in a raid on a building in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

It is noteworthy that the Al-Qassam Brigades carried out several operations against Israel from Lebanon since it launched the Battle of Al-Aqsa Flood on the seventh of last October.

Mikati called on the concerned countries to put pressure on Israel to stop attacking Lebanon (Reuters)

Mikati’s statements

Meanwhile, Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Monday that countries must put pressure on Israel to stop attacking Lebanon in the wake of the UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

In a statement published by his office, Mikati welcomed the decision, saying that it “constitutes a first step in the process of stopping the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, the likes of which has not been recorded in modern history.”

Mikati told Reuters last February that the ceasefire in Gaza would lead to indirect talks between Lebanon and Israel to reach an end to the fighting on the southern border and demarcate the disputed borders between the two sides.

Hezbollah also said that it would cease fire on Israel if a ceasefire could be reached in Gaza. But Israeli and American officials said that the ceasefire in Gaza would not automatically extend to...

The border areas in southern Lebanon have witnessed security tension and an exchange of fire between the Israeli army and elements of the resistance in Lebanon, since October 8, after Israel declared war on Gaza.

At least 326 people have been killed in Lebanon since the start of the escalation, most of them Hezbollah fighters, including at least 57 civilians, according to a tally prepared by Agence France-Presse based on party statements and official Lebanese sources.

The current escalation between Hezbollah and Israel has led to the displacement of tens of thousands of residents in the border areas on both sides.
