According to the American TV channel, city fire department employees and specialists from the US Coast Guard are participating in the search efforts.

Also involved in the rescue operation is a team of divers who have to work in conditions of “freezing temperature” of the water in the river.

“This may cause concern and risk for our divers,” Kevin Cartwright, public affairs director for the Baltimore City Fire Department, was quoted as saying by the television channel.

Earlier, the news portal WTOP reported that several cars fell into the water as a result of a bridge collapse in Baltimore caused by a collision with a cargo ship.
