As reported by the joint press service of the capital's courts of general jurisdiction, the preliminary investigation authorities applied for an extension of the arrest of The Wall Street Journal journalist. The preventive measure for Gershkovich was extended until June 30, 2024.
Gershkovich fell into the hands of law enforcement officers in March 2023. According to the Russian FSB, the journalist, on instructions from the United States, collected information about the activities of one of the enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex.
President Vladimir Putin noted that Gershkovich was caught “red-handed” in Russia while receiving classified information on a secret basis.
