China News Service, Hong Kong, March 25 (Reporter Dai Xiaolu) The sixth "Famous Teachers and Apprentices" mentorship program jointly organized by the Hong Kong Academy of Sciences, the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences, the Hong Kong Science Society and the Hong Kong Youth Academy of Sciences held a launch ceremony on the 24th. Students participating in the program expressed that they plan to enroll in university courses related to scientific research in the future and hope to contribute to the development of science and technology innovation in Hong Kong.

  It is understood that this year's "Famous Teachers and Apprentices" invited 56 well-known Hong Kong scientists and engineers as mentors, including Teng Jinguang, President of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, who participated in the program for the first time, and Lu Jinbiao, Chair Professor of the Department of Physics of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, to guide 105 local high school students in Hong Kong. students and inspire them to explore scientific research.

  Ouyang Yue, a participant in the previous session of the program and a student of St. Stephen's Girls' School in Hong Kong, said that after participating in the program, she has gained a deeper understanding and interest in the field of science. She plans to enroll in university courses related to scientific research in the future, hoping to Contribute to the development of science and technology innovation in Hong Kong.

  At the launch ceremony, the Secretary for Education of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Mrs Choi Nok-lin, delivered a speech, saying that since its launch in 2018, the program has cultivated nearly 700 "high-level apprentices" who have a strong interest in science and engineering.
