This, as RIA Novosti reports, was stated by the Russian Ambassador to Venezuela and part-time to Haiti, Sergei Melik-Bagdasarov.
It is noted that one Russian citizen currently lives in Haiti.
The diplomatic mission emphasized that they are in contact with it regarding possible assistance in the evacuation.
It was also reported that the United States is beginning to evacuate its citizens from Haiti.
Earlier, armed men attacked several government buildings in the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, including the presidential palace.
