Although specific health conditions have not been disclosed, it is said that he plans to retire in June this year.



Deputy Secretary-General Haq said in a statement that Griffiths is a skilled diplomat and mediator, leading the United Nations' humanitarian response and playing a key role in negotiating solutions to some of the most intractable crises. He emphasized his achievements.



Under-Secretary-General Griffiths assumed the position of head of OCHA in July 2021, and in addition to visiting Ukraine, where Russia's military invasion continues, he also reviewed the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip as fighting began between Israel and the Islamic organization Hamas in October last year.
