Residents of the city of Rafah held a collective iftar for hundreds of Palestinians in the streets of the city (Anatolia)

Yesterday, Sunday, Palestinians in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip organized a collective iftar meal for hundreds of Palestinians in the streets of the city. This initiative comes as an expression of the city's residents' solidarity with the Palestinians who left their homes and took refuge in Rafah, where there are thousands of displaced people.

The banquet was held in a street in the city of Rafah, and was attended by hundreds, including children and women, amid an atmosphere mixed with joy and sadness as a result of the current events in the Gaza Strip.

Muslim Ahmed, one of the participants in organizing the iftar, explained that the aim of this initiative is to bring joy to the hearts of those who are fasting during the difficult circumstances that the sector is going through, by providing a rich and nutritious breakfast that includes rice and meat.

Recently, there have been increasing warnings from the international and regional community about the potential repercussions of any Israeli ground invasion in the Rafah area, where there are about 1.4 million displaced Palestinians.

The Israeli occupation army pushed them into this area, claiming that it was safe, but later launched attacks on it, resulting in martyrs and injuries.

On March 15, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced, through a statement, that he had approved plans to carry out a military operation in the Rafah area.

The statement also indicated that the occupation army is preparing to evacuate the residents of the area, without specifying a date for the start of the military operation.

The devastating Israeli war on the Gaza Strip resulted in the death of 32,226 Palestinians, and the injury of 74,518 others, most of them children and women. The aggression also caused massive destruction of infrastructure, leaving an “unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe,” according to Palestinian and international reports.
