Venezuela Chavismo blocks the presentation of the new opposition candidacy
Opposition The philosopher Corina Yoris, chosen to replace María Corina Machado for the Venezuelan presidential elections
"In these hours of uncertainty, I consider it essential to inform citizens:
Corina Yoris,
presidential candidate proposed by the Unity, unanimously, has not been able to be registered. The
Democratic Unity Platform (PUD)
holds permanent meetings for evaluation, discussion and decision. We will act responsibly towards the country," revealed this Sunday the leader
Delsa Solórzano,
former primary candidate close to
María Corina Machado.
With the country on tenterhooks in the face of the latest revolutionary blackmail, the
Democratic Unity Roundtable
has requested the
National Electoral Council (CNE)
to extend the registration period by 72 hours in view of "the factual and legal violations that have occurred in the process." ".
Violations among the obscurantism imposed by Chavismo after it was learned that the 80-year-old philosopher, with an impeccable academic record, is the one chosen to replace Machado. The two opposition parties that have an electoral card to participate in the July presidential elections have not been able to access the digital registry of the CNE until Sunday night in
Caracas
, a previous step to register Corina Yoris, the consensus candidate chosen to replace the María Corina Machado disqualified. This process, which began on Thursday, ends on Monday night.
An automatic mechanism already granted to the 10 candidates nominated so far, with
Nicolás Maduro
at the head. The rest is a group of
collaborationists, false opponents and politicians aligned
with the Bolivarian strategy.
In this way, the opposition once again clashes against the electoral authoritarianism of Chavismo, so similar to that of
Nicaragua
and
Russia.
Sources from the negotiators confirmed to EL MUNDO that the government has let them know that
Yoris' registration
will not be accepted in any way, after two days of insults and
fake news
against the philosopher. The so-called "revolutionary troops" on the networks attacked the academic again and again, who was even
falsely accused of having dual Venezuelan and Uruguayan nationality,
something that she herself denied. No type of disqualification or investigation weighs on Yoris.
The blockade against Yoris ordered from the
Miraflores Palace
further narrows a gap that was always minimal for the democrats. The list of "potable" candidates for the revolution includes figures such as the governor of
Zulia, Manuel Rosales,
or
Ramón Guillermo Aveledo,
former secretary of the MUD and a man close to
Henrique Capriles.
Neither belligerent opponents nor women fit into that list.
Local media added that Chavismo also demands that María Corina Machado, who leads the polls with more than 50 points ahead of Maduro, step aside and not intervene in the electoral process, after verifying the enthusiasm caused by the candidacy of " the two Corinas" since last Friday.
"The true unity of the parties is unity with the people; only then will we defeat Maduro," Machado warned on his social networks, after a Sunday of intense meetings.
The reality that the opposition unit faces is that the ruling party is not looking for a "potable" candidate in a country where 80% want immediate change. He wants much more: a "potable" candidate so ultra-moderate that he will begin the process without the support achieved by Machado and thus lose the
fake elections
manufactured by those in power.
"Chavismo does not want to measure itself against a viable candidate. Chavismo does not want to measure itself. Just like that," stated political scientist
Walter Molina.
While the revolutionary power prevented the registration of Corina Yoris, the other candidates went to the CNE headquarters as if it were a typical Holy Week procession
.
The majority of these ten have the support of parties forcibly intervened by the
Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ)
to be handed over to dark characters close to the regime or parties expressly created in recent weeks. Others, like María Corina Machado's
Vente Venezuela
, have been fighting for a decade to be registered in the CNE.
