The Al-Qassam Brigades - the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) - fired a batch of rockets at the city of Ashdod in the northern Gaza Strip, while battles continued with the occupation forces in the vicinity of Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City.

The Al-Qassam Brigades said that it "bombed occupied Ashdod with a missile salvo in response to the targeting of civilians in the Gaza Strip." The bombing came on the 171st day of the Israeli war on Gaza, despite the occupation army’s talk of undermining the capabilities of the resistance.

For its part, Israeli Army Radio said that two of the eight rockets fired from Gaza towards Ashdod were intercepted.

Other Israeli media also reported that the rockets were fired from the central Gaza Strip, specifically from the Deir al-Balah area.

Al Jazeera's correspondent reported that sirens sounded in Ashdod, and Israeli media showed video clips showing Israelis running to hide in shelters when they were gathering to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Purim.

Israeli Channel 12 said that a missile landed in fields near a kibbutz (agricultural settlement) belonging to the Ashkelon Coast Council, without causing any casualties.

Meanwhile, confrontations continue for the eighth day between the Palestinian resistance and the occupation forces penetrating the vicinity of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, west of Gaza City.

The Al-Quds Brigades - the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement - said that it bombed crowds of occupation forces in the vicinity of the medical complex with 60-caliber mortar shells.

For its part, the occupation army announced that two soldiers from its forces were injured in the Gaza battles during the past 24 hours.

This brings the announced number of Israeli soldiers injured since the beginning of the war to 3,130, of whom 1,509 were injured during the ground attack on Gaza.

The Israeli army had previously confirmed that its military operation in the Shifa complex is continuing, indicating that it is taking place with the participation of the 401st Brigade and the Marine Commando Unit, under the command of the 162nd Division.

Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip for more than 5 months, leaving tens of thousands martyred and wounded, most of them children and women.
