It is Palm Sunday, the holiday that marks the beginning of Holy Week for Catholics. However, Pope Francis chose not to deliver the homily during the Mass in St. Peter's Square in front of 25,000 faithful.

After reading the Gospel, delivered in a tired and somewhat weak voice, he put aside the text he had prepared to read. He remained silent for several minutes and the celebration continued with the Creed.

Pope Francis chose not to officiate the homily during the celebration of Palm Sunday. After the reading of the Gospel, several minutes of silence could be observed for personal reflection and then the Creed was recited directly.
