The National Police have arrested a man in Langreo (Asturias) for killing and dismembering his 60-year-old landlord, who had rented him a room just two months ago. After ending his life, the now arrested man, aged 58, dismembered him and distributed the rest of him throughout different areas of the municipality, as investigation sources confirm to EL MUNDO.

The main hypothesis that the Police are considering is that the background of the crime is related to a drug matter, as the same sources reveal to this newspaper. In addition, they indicate, the agents would be looking for a third man due to his involvement in the events. It is possible that this man also lived with them. The crime would have been committed with stab wounds in the victim's chest area.

The police investigations began last Friday evening when a neighbor found, inside some bags, human remains, which would belong to the victim. Several witnesses told investigators that the day before they had heard "banging" in the house.

The forensic examination has allowed us to conclude that the dismemberment was carried out post-mortem and that the date of death would be approximately five days before the discovery of the first bag with mortal remains.

The arrested man allegedly dismembered his victim using tools inside the house. He spent several days and during that period of time, the neighbors asked him about the man's absence and he gave several versions.

He was the agents' main suspect from the beginning, and during his statements he incurred several contradictions, as testified by the same sources consulted.

It is scheduled to be brought before the Langreo court tomorrow, Monday or next Tuesday if the Specialized and Violent Crime Unit (UDEV) of the Asturias Police Headquarters, which is the one that has taken charge of the investigation, believes it is necessary. exhaust the maximum of 72 hours.
