The occupation forces launch a massive arrest campaign in various governorates of the West Bank (French)

The Prisoners' and Ex-Prisoners' Affairs Authority and the Prisoners' Club said that the Israeli occupation forces have escalated the pace of arrests among citizens who hold an identity card indicating that they are from Gaza and reside in the West Bank, targeting women more.

A statement - issued on Sunday - by the Authority and the club said that in light of the genocide it is carrying out in Gaza, the occupation has targeted citizens born in Gaza, or whose identities still indicate that they are residents of it, and they and their families have resided in the West Bank for years.

Recently, the institutions concerned with prisoners followed up at least 5 cases within one week, from several regions, and among them was a woman suffering from cancer who was arrested while heading for treatment in occupied Jerusalem, and was later released.

In this context, the Authority and the Club issued a special appeal to citizens whose identities indicate that they are residents of Gaza and are residing in the West Bank to be careful, especially in light of the occupation’s recent deportation of journalist Saeqal for coming to Gaza, and the threat of others being deported there, after their arrest at checkpoints. Military forces established between towns and governorates.

A massive arrest campaign

Since the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza on October 7, the occupation forces have carried out massive arrest campaigns in the West Bank, targeting 7,755 Palestinians.

The arrest operations were distributed across the governorates of Hebron, Ramallah, Bethlehem, Tulkarm, and occupied Jerusalem, and were accompanied by widespread abuse, severe beatings, and threats against detainees and their families, in addition to widespread sabotage and destruction of citizens’ homes.

During this campaign, the occupation targeted, with arrest and retaliation, Gaza workers who moved to the West Bank after October 7, noting that the occupation prevents, to this day, legal teams and the International Committee of the Red Cross from visiting detainees from Gaza, or disclosing any information regarding their fate or places of detention.

But the Israeli media revealed earlier that 27 prisoners from Gaza were martyred in occupation camps.
