The Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at the College of Engineering at Qatar University participated in the “Doha Design Biennale 2024” held at Barahat Msheireb in the heart of Doha, where the distinguished projects of the department’s female students from the undergraduate and postgraduate levels were presented.

The event was attended by a number of Qatar University officials, in addition to local and international guests, architects, and a large number of female students who participated with their architectural projects and designs.

The cultural event was held within the “Design Doha 2024” Biennale in its first edition - which was launched in its first edition in February and continues until August - and it is an event that is held every two years, and constitutes a window for excellence and innovation in Qatar and the Middle East and North Africa region.

Academics at Qatar University praised the Architectural Design Laboratory exhibition, noting that the university event held outside the university formed an interactive space that gave visitors the opportunity to interact with projects, participate in their design, and quickly embody ideas in them.

The Design Doha Biennial, an exhibition held by Qatar Museums every two years, showcases excellence and innovation in the design community in the State of Qatar and the Middle East and North Africa region.

Activities and exhibitions include works of public art, events and discussions covering the fields of architecture, urbanism, landscapes, graphic design, handicrafts, and others.

The Doha Design Biennial will serve as a new platform through which Arab designers will showcase their work and specializations, determine their future career paths, and interact with the most famous experienced designers from all over the world.

Design Doha presents exhibitions of works created in a wide variety of design practices, ranging from architecture, urbanism and landscape architecture to textiles, woodwork, glass, ceramics and graphic design, and has supervised the organization of more than 20 activities by partner design studios from the region.
