This statement was published in the Telegram channel of the Russian Embassy in Washington in connection with the 25th anniversary of the start of NATO military operations in Yugoslavia.

The diplomatic mission noted that today in Washington “they are cynically calling on Belgrade to quickly turn the page and join the alliance, which at one time brought destruction, death and pain to the prosperous country.”

Earlier, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said that Washington is doing everything to make people forget how NATO, on its orders, bypassing the UN Security Council, bombed Belgrade and other cities of Yugoslavia.

Also, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the bombing of Yugoslavia carried out by NATO in 1999 was completely unacceptable.
