Comoros: the Radhi political party makes its return to Azali Assoumani's movement

A key figure on the Comorian political scene, Houmed M'saidié, secretary general of the Radhi party, signed, last Thursday March 21, the merger of his party with the CRC, the ruling party. From now on, the Radhi (“blessing”, in Shikomori), no longer exists. The end of a party born from a split, ten years earlier, with this same CRC over leadership problems. On site, Houmed M'saidié's choice to return to his political party, and above all to bury his own party, is appreciated differently.

In 2014, Houmed M'saidié and other members of the CRC left the party to found Radhi, contesting the designation of

Azali Assoumani

as the natural candidate for the 2016 presidency and asserting that other members could also stand as candidates. .

Today, the return to the CRC of Azali Assoumani's campaign director during the 2019 and 2024 presidential elections, spokesperson for the Comoros government

since

2019, is criticized by Daoudou Abdallah Mohamed, leader of Orange, a opposition party: “

Remember that four years ago, the president of the Radhi party exchanged a deputy mandate with the CRC for a ministerial mandate. So today, it's just a move to paper. But still, I think of all those men and women who have believed him all these years. This gentleman has never had any ambition for the country, perhaps for himself, but it is one of the last worries of the Comorians.

 »

Within the ruling party, on the other hand, this return is completely natural. “

It is a logical continuation to return to the CRC. It is his original party, he is among the founding members of the CRC party. There is no winner or loser. There is neither failure nor success for one or the other. It turns out that we have the same vision. We are moving forward together so they deemed it useful to rejoin the party

,” according to Soilihi Mohamed Djounaid, national secretary in charge of monitoring and government action within the CRC.

Approached, Houmed M'saidié believes for his part that the unification of the two formations aims to strengthen this leadership in achieving the legitimate aspirations of Comorian men and women for well-being. Former Radhi leaders, on the other hand, see current events as the natural result of a party centered on the “

unacknowledged

” ambitions of a single man.
