Yesterday, Friday, the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) adopted the third resolution in favor of Palestine, after adopting two previous resolutions on Wednesday, within its 219th session held in the French capital, Paris.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stated in a statement that the Council adopted on Friday “a third resolution entitled: The impact and consequences of the current situation in the Gaza Strip with regard to all aspects of UNESCO’s mission, after unanimously adopting two resolutions related to the State of Palestine: Occupied Palestine and cultural and educational institutions.”

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki welcomed the adoption of the third resolution, noting that the adoption of the resolutions “is important to preserve the rights of the Palestinian people in the areas of UNESCO’s work, in light of the crimes and violations committed by Israel, the illegal occupation authority, especially in the Gaza Strip,” according to Statement.

He continued, "The adoption of these resolutions is a testament to the ability of the international community to carry out its responsibilities by confronting violations and monitoring the damage to implement an urgent action plan to protect the Palestinian people, their cultural heritage and history, which are threatened by Israeli colonialism, and to rebuild and develop the Gaza Strip."

On Wednesday, the Executive Council of UNESCO unanimously adopted two resolutions related to the State of Palestine: “Occupied Palestine and cultural and educational institutions,” according to a statement by the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The adoption of the three resolutions comes in light of an ongoing Israeli war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, which has left massive destruction and tens of thousands of civilian victims, most of them children and women, and famine that has claimed the lives of children and the elderly, which has led to Israel appearing, for the first time, before the International Court of Justice. Charged with committing genocide.
