China News Service, Kunshan, March 23 (Reporter Zhong Sheng) The opening ceremony of the 11th Cross-Strait (Kunshan) Cultural Exchange Month and the "Kunshan High-tech Cup" Cross-Strait (Kunshan) Frisbee Invitational Tournament was held in Kunshan, Jiangsu on the 23rd. More than 200 Frisbee players from both sides of the Taiwan Strait competed in the same field. At the same time, the "Kunshan-Taiwan Youth Sports Exchange and Cooperation Alliance" was formally established, and Kunshan Urban Ecological Forest Park was awarded the title of "Su-Taiwan Frisbee Exchange Demonstration Base".

Kunshan is one of the areas in mainland China where Taiwanese businessmen invest most intensively and cross-strait exchanges are most active. Frisbee sports started early in Taiwan, and a group of Frisbee enthusiasts emerged with high levels of Frisbee sports. In recent years, Frisbee has also become popular in Kunshan and has become a popular national fitness project.

According to Chen Youjie, president of the Youth Association of the Taiwan Compatriots Investment Enterprises Association in Kunshan, because Frisbee is so popular among Taiwanese youth in Kunshan, the Taiwan Youth Association established a Frisbee Club in 2023. Currently, there are more than 50 members in the society. Every Wednesday, everyone is organized to throw Frisbees. Some mainland youths also join in. The small Frisbee "disc" revives the friendship between the youths on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

Tang Jianzhang, secretary-general of the Taiwan Frisbee Golf Association, has been playing Frisbee since he was in elementary school. This time he brought five professional players from the island to compete. He said: "The sport of Frisbee throwing has been developed in Taiwan for more than 20 years and has relatively mature experience. Although the related sports in mainland China have not yet emerged, I found that Kunshan already has a fixed venue for Frisbee sports, which will help the development of Frisbee sports. It’s huge, and I hope the Frisbee circles on both sides of the Taiwan Strait can strengthen exchanges, exchange experiences, and make progress together.”

Tang Jianzhang, who visited Kunshan for the first time, reunited with his friends who played Frisbee on the island in elementary school. "When I met an old friend in a foreign country and talked about how we played together when we were children, childhood memories came back to my heart little by little, which made me deeply moved. Frisbee will also be one of the events at the Chengdu World Games next year, and I hope it can be played again by then. Come to the mainland to watch games, and strive to go to the mainland every year to compete with mainland Frisbee players and see the development of the mainland," he said. (over)
