The French newspaper Le Monde confirmed in its editorial that US President Joe Biden has fallen into the "Israeli trap", as his full support for Tel Aviv has damaged the image of the United States locally and internationally.
She added that this full support may expose Biden to the risk of punitive abstention from voting in the upcoming November elections, as large segments of Americans are angry at the “deficit diplomacy” that characterized the Biden administration towards Israel in particular.
The newspaper said that Biden is paying a heavy price for his illegitimate alignment with Benjamin Netanyahu's government, which is considered the most extremist in the country's history, highlighting that the gradual American tightening towards Tel Aviv since last February has not produced any effect.
Indeed, the matter reached - adds Le Monde - the Israeli government announced on Friday the seizure of 800 hectares of land in the occupied West Bank, at a time when US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken was on an official visit to Tel Aviv.
According to the Israeli "Peace Now" organization, this seizure is the largest of its kind since the signing of the Oslo Accords in 1993.
The Le Monde editorial said that the use of China and Russia's veto power against the American draft resolution, which speaks about "the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza," should not bother the United States, which used its veto three times to prevent condemnation of Israel.
American support for the Israeli ally is not limited to veto and diplomatic support. Rather, Washington has been sending arms shipments to Israel, which increases the number of massacres committed in the Gaza Strip, the number of victims of which reached about 110,000 martyrs and wounded.
