In Senegal, civil society deploys 1,000 observers for the presidential vote

The collective of civil society organizations for the elections is mobilizing in 14 regions of the country to verify the smooth running of the vote this Sunday. These observers will send their information to the headquarters based in Dakar. Reporting.

Because on Sunday, it is about being ready to observe the different stages of the vote and report possible incidents by text message and by messaging on the opening at the time of the polling stations, the presence or not of representatives of the candidates at the time of counting. This is very important as we are currently in an extremely tense political context. It is the role of civil society to work to strengthen the credibility of the electoral process. By verifying today that voting operations are taking place correctly, it will help strengthen citizens' confidence in the results that will come from the polls on March 24.

One of the fears is that of post-election disputes if the results were to be close between the different candidates. On Sunday, 500 fixed observers and 500 other mobile observers will therefore be deployed to a representative sample of polling stations to collect all the data. These will then be compiled in Dakar by these mobilized volunteers from civil society.
