The leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Bassem Naim, said that the United States is committing a strategic mistake by continuing to support Israel, and he considered that the chances of US President Joe Biden in winning the upcoming presidential elections may be affected because of his position on the Israeli aggression against Gaza.

The American magazine "Newsweek" quoted Naeem as saying, "The United States has the ability, but does not have sufficient will to exert the necessary pressure on Israel, despite the internal pressure in America due to the crimes committed by Israel that expose American interests in the region to danger."

He added, "This American path constitutes a strategic mistake on both the internal and external levels, and the American people will not accept the continuation of this blind bias toward Israel," and he considered that this policy may harm Biden's image among his voters during the upcoming elections.

The magazine stated that opinion polls recently indicated growing opinions rejecting Israel's policies, and indicated that although Israel still enjoys much greater popularity than the Hamas movement among the population of the United States, the support provided to it and its plans in the war on Gaza is declining.

This decline coincides with a number of Arab and Muslim voters in the United States launching campaigns to boycott voting for Biden. However, Newsweek magazine believes that all of the above does not necessarily mean a clear impact on Biden’s chances of being re-elected, as other factors interfere in determining voters’ choices, such as Economy, health care, immigration and other domestic issues.

She pointed out that the choice on the other side of the election is not much different, as former President Donald Trump, Biden's competitor in the upcoming elections, is considered a strong ally of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Trump often avoids commenting on the issue amid his campaign to regain office, but he told Fox News this month that Israel must "end the problem" in Gaza, and stressed that the attack carried out by Hamas on October 7 and the Israeli response to it would not have happened if it had In the presidency.
