General Director of the Turkish company "Aselsan", which specializes in defense industries, Ahmed Akyul, said that the company has become one of the major defense industries companies in the world, thanks to the high-tech electronic systems, including the naval, land and air systems that it produces.

Akyul added - in his interview with Al Jazeera Net against the backdrop of his participation in the Doha International Defense Exhibition "DIMDEX 2024" - that "the relationship between Turkey and Qatar is strong and built on friendship and brotherhood, and we want to be able to produce some of our products locally in Doha."

He continued: "We actually manufacture military electronic systems for drones, ships, land vehicles, and submarines," pointing to the great development in Turkey in the field of drone manufacturing, to which ASELSAN contributes.

He pointed out that the company offers a military camera that has the highest imaging performance in its field in the world and long-range imaging capabilities, in addition to electronic warfare systems for drones, and the communications systems necessary to control military drones.

He pointed to the development in the manufacture of radars and guided munitions that are launched from drones, and explained to Al Jazeera Net the displays of the Aselsan Pavilion at the Doha Exhibition of laser guidance systems and navigation systems, for surveillance, targeting, and others.

He said: “ASELSAN also develops types of ammunition with the ability to engage long distances and multiple targets... and we install all ship warfare systems and radars on ships.”

The company's general manager added: "Aselsan develops search radars and fire control radars that detect enemy targets around them and engage them after discovering them, and we put them in the service of the navy in Qatar, Turkey and other parts of the world."

He continued: "We also develop electro-optical systems on board ships, and we are working on developing wireless communications systems on ships, systems for identifying friends and enemies on ships, and electronic warfare systems on ships."

He pointed to the cooperation between Qatar and Turkey in this field, as the company equips nearly 50 electronic systems on board the warship, which includes radar, electro-optics, communications and electronic warfare systems, he said.

In the interview with Al Jazeera Net, Akyul reviewed marine radar systems, sonar systems to detect submarines and torpedoes, military camouflage systems, in addition to tank systems technology, and land vehicle upgrades, especially military vehicle models.

He said that ASELSAN, which employs more than 10,000 employees in the field of defense industries in Turkey, has a company that includes 16 subsidiaries in Turkey and offices and joint projects in 14 locations around the world, from Africa to America, and from Asia to Europe.

He pointed out that it had reached a revenue volume of $2.5 billion, and said: We are ranked 47th among the largest defense industry companies in the world... and “We will work to increase the number of our employees in the coming period, and expand our products to become among the top 30 companies in the world in 2030.” .

The activities of the eighth edition of the Doha International Defense Exhibition “DIMDEX 2024” witnessed the participation of Turkish companies, most notably “Aselsan,” “Roketsan,” “Baykar,” “BMC,” “Havelsan,” and others.
