In 1948, with the settlement of thousands of Palestinians in Zarqa, on the outskirts of Amman, Jordan's first refugee camp was established. Over the years, buildings replaced tents as families grew.

A unique case in the region, the Hashemite kingdom has opted for the integration of Palestinian refugees by offering the vast majority of them Jordanian citizenship. Palestinians now make up more than half the population and are considered a driving force in the kingdom's economy. They are also represented at the top of the State by Queen Rania, wife of Palestinian origin of King Abdullah II.

Three generations after the “Nakba” (“Great Catastrophe”), which the creation of the State of Israel in 1948 represented for the Palestinians; and after 75 years of exile, what relationship do they still have with their country of origin? Integrated into Jordanian society, stateless for some, all have their eyes fixed on the conflict which has ravaged the Gaza Strip since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.

Part of this report was filmed before October 7, 2023
