Presidential election in Senegal: Karim Wade's PDS supports candidate Bassirou Diomaye Faye

The Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS) announced on March 22, 2024, 48 hours before the presidential election, “to provide its full support to the Diomaye Faye coalition”, named after the candidate from the African Patriots of Senegal for work, ethics and the fraternity (Pastef), political group dissolved. In a press release signed by the former head of state and secretary general of the Senegalese Democratic Party, Abdoulaye Wade, the PDS affirms that the “

Diomaye Faye coalition has made strong commitments in areas

” such as “

the renewal of the rule of law and the guarantee of a fully independent judiciary

”. The PDS wanted to present the candidacy of Karim Wade for this election initially scheduled for February 25, but it was rejected by the Constitutional Council.
