Cloud of smoke over the concert hall

According to media reports, gunmen opened fire in a concert hall near Moscow. The Ria news agency reported that the shooters were at least four people in camouflage clothing. The state news agency Tass said that visitors to the concert hall were being brought to safety, and there were said to be several dead and injured.

Videos on social media, which were said to have been recorded at the time of the incident in the concert hall, show several armed men shooting around the concert hall with automatic weapons. According to other videos, the cloud of smoke above the building could still be seen in the distance. The recordings could not initially be independently verified. According to Russian news agencies, around 100 people were brought to safety from the building.

According to reports, around 100 people could still be trapped in the burning house. The fire spread to about a third of the building and almost the entire roof. The Ria news agency reported that a large contingent of rescue workers was sent to the venue. Special units of the National Guard are now said to be at the hall. According to the Tass news agency, large parts, including the roof of the concert hall, are in flames.

The victims are said to be both employees and visitors to the Crocus City Hall in the city of Krasnogorsk, northwest of Moscow, Tass reported. The background to the incident remains unclear.
