The government has decided to hold the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) in Yokohama in late August next year.

TICAD, whose theme is development and support for Africa, is an international conference led by the Japanese government once every three years, and the next conference, which will be the 9th, will be held in Japan next year.

At a cabinet meeting on the 22nd, the government agreed to hold the event in Yokohama for three days from August 20th to 22nd next year.

This is the fourth time that it will be held in Yokohama City, and it is based on the fact that TICAD was held in Tunisia in North Africa a year ago, which positioned Africa as a ``partner to grow together'' and proposed joint public-private investment and human resource development. It is expected that support will be considered based on the needs of each country.

At a press conference after the Cabinet meeting, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi said, ``This is a good opportunity for Japan and Africa to further cooperate and strengthen, and while reaffirming common foundations such as the rule of law and human dignity, we will be able to address the challenges faced by the international community.'' I would like to use this as an opportunity to discuss solutions to various issues."
