“Farmers are in dire straits”

So, driving trucks full of trash, farmers' first stop is a public finance center. “We unroll a bale of straw in front of the tax center, to denounce that the farmers are on the straw,” explains one of the demonstrators.

But this action is only the first of a long list. After getting back on the road, the farmers tear down the signs at the entrance to the villages in which they travel. “We are going to bring these signs in front of the symbol of the State which is called the sub-prefecture,” continue the demonstrators.

A demonstration as a warning

Direction the sub-prefecture of Muret, 30 minutes from Toulouse where tires and panels are thrown over the gate. “We throw tires, shit behind the prefecture. It’s a pretty poisoned gift,” laughs another farmer at the microphone of Europe 1.

But these behaviors are the consequence of being fed up, believes Jérémy, a 30-year-old breeder who is still waiting for his CAP payments. “I owe more than 60,000 euros to suppliers and we are missing 50,000 euros which must be paid into the account. Next week, we will close the country entirely,” warns the Occitan operator, ensuring that this night of mobilization will not is just a warning.
