Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu checked the implementation of the state defense order at enterprises of the military-industrial complex in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The head of the defense department inspected the production of aviation weapons, as well as artillery and tank shells of various calibers.

According to the general director of the plant, the enterprise fully fulfills the task of the state defense order, and since the beginning of 2024 it has significantly increased the volume of output.

“Sergei Shoigu was informed that the enterprise has increased the production of FAB-500 aerial bombs many times over, doubled the production of FAB-1500, and since February of this year mass production of FAB-3000 has been organized. The range of produced artillery ammunition has also been expanded. Since last year, the plant’s production volume of modern artillery and aviation weapons has increased fivefold,” the statement says.

It is indicated that such results were achieved thanks to the reactivation of production facilities at the enterprise, technical re-equipment and modernization of production lines for the production of projectiles with modern high-tech equipment. Thus, since 2022, the plant has reconstructed, modernized and put into operation more than 45 thousand square meters. m of production space, and the total number of personnel increased by more than 1.1 thousand people. At the same time, wages at the plant increased by an average of 20%.

They also reported on the expansion of the plant’s production capacity, within the framework of which the reconstruction and technical equipment of the cartridge case repair shop were carried out, as well as the installation of new equipment in the workshop for the production of ammunition for artillery systems of 122 and 152 mm caliber. Following the results of his visits, Sergei Shoigu held a working meeting with the participation of the leadership of the Russian Ministry of Defense, representatives of relevant military control bodies and general directors of enterprises. He, in particular, drew attention to serious changes since the previous inspection.

That is, the tasks that we set a year ago have been completed. New workshops have been built and they are operating at full capacity,” the minister said.

He added that enterprises are operating ahead of production schedule thanks to the commissioning of new facilities.

“We were counting on an increase in production volumes in the third quarter, but we actually achieved this after the end of the first quarter. And a huge amount of work has been done, the enterprise has not just been reconstructed and modernized, it is a new enterprise in many components,” he said.
