China News Service, March 21. According to news from the Ministry of Water Resources website on the 20th, since last winter, drought has continued in some areas of Yunnan Province due to the lack of rainfall and incoming water.

The Ministry of Water Resources pays close attention to the drought situation in Yunnan Province, conducts rolling analysis and judgment, and sends working teams to drought-stricken areas twice before and after the Spring Festival to check the drought situation and guide the work of urban and rural water supply and spring agricultural production water security.

Coordinated arrangements for the issuance of additional government bond funds to support the construction of 20 medium-sized reservoirs and 47 small reservoirs in Yunnan Province, and 27 new and improved irrigation areas, with an estimated newly restored and improved irrigation area of more than 1 million acres; coordinated and issued central subsidy funds to support the maintenance and repair of rural water supply projects in Yunnan Province , consolidate and improve water supply security capabilities.

The Yangtze River Water Conservancy Commission and the Yunnan Provincial Department of Water Resources implement emergency water supply dispatching from the Deze Reservoir to ensure the safety of Kunming's urban water supply and the ecological safety of Dianchi Lake.

At the end of the flood season in 2023, the Yunnan Provincial Department of Water Resources will, in view of the insufficient water storage situation and the prediction of severe droughts in winter and spring, schedule the reservoir storage and water conservation in advance, organize and carefully analyze the water supply demand, and calculate the water account, based on the most disadvantageous situation of continuous no effective rainfall in the spring. situation, formulate a detailed water supply guarantee plan, pay equal attention to increasing revenue and reducing expenditure, and implement the "five major actions" to combat drought.

The first is to search for underground water, and set up a special work team to carry out field surveys and systematic exploration. A total of 580 wells were drilled to make reasonable and efficient use of groundwater resources.

Second, we need water from the sky. We will work with the Provincial Meteorological Bureau to prepare an artificial rainfall enhancement work plan and seize suitable conditions to implement rainfall enhancement operations in a timely manner.

The third is mountain spring water diversion. 277 mountain spring water diversion projects have been implemented to make good use of mountain spring water by means of storage, diversion and lifting according to local conditions.

The fourth is emergency water transfer. 652 drought-resistant and water-supply-protection projects were constructed in drought-risk areas in advance, and water resources were allocated between regions. Some projects have been completed and have been effective, which has largely curbed the development of drought.

The fifth is to save water for all. An initiative letter was issued on the media platform calling on the whole society to save water, love water and cherish water. Cooperate with the Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development to carry out water supply network leakage control, and strengthen water management in industry and service industries.

By taking effective measures, the drought relief work has achieved significant results in stages. Currently, there are no interruptions in water supply and no large-scale unsafe drinking water problems in the province.

In the next step, the Ministry of Water Resources will continue to pay close attention to the drought situation in Yunnan Province, guide and support drought areas to strengthen water supply and demand analysis, precise scope, precise objects, precise time periods, precise measures, scientifically dispatch drought-resistant water resources, strengthen various drought-resistant measures, and fully ensure urban and rural water supply. Safety and water for spring agricultural production.
