In the appeal, the political scientist noted that currently Russian tax legislation provides for tax deductions that citizens can use once during their lifetime when purchasing housing, including a separate deduction when purchasing an apartment or house with a mortgage.

Thus, when purchasing residential premises, a citizen has the right to return 13% of income tax, but not more than on the amount of 2 million rubles.

Plus, a citizen has the right to return 13% of income tax on the amount of expenses for repaying interest on a mortgage loan, but not more than 3 million rubles.

As a result, when using a mortgage, the home buyer today has the opportunity to collectively return paid taxes in the amount of up to 650 thousand rubles.

At the same time, these deduction amounts are currently established both for citizens who are not married and do not have children, and for persons with the status of having many children, who bear a significant additional financial burden associated with raising and caring for children, Orlov noted.

“As part of the implementation of state policy to stimulate the birth rate and support large families, I ask you to consider the advisability of doubling the amount of tax deductions - up to 4 and 6 million rubles, from which a citizen will be able to return 13% of income tax if he has at the time of purchase housing status with many children or acquired this status after purchasing housing,” the text of the appeal says.

Earlier, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Anna Kuznetsova supported the initiatives of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the field of demography.
