A police operation against a major drug dealer in Nantes led to the arrest and incarceration of seven men, including two Russians, and the seizure of 11 weapons and nearly 30 kg of drugs, the Nantes prosecutor's office announced on Wednesday.

Some 70 police officers supported by 10 men from the Raid participated in this operation which took place on the night of March 12 to 13, detailed the public prosecutor, Renaud Gaudeul, during a press conference.

Between 15,000 and 30,000 daily turnover

Located in a building in the Dervallières district, the deal point was reputed to be the most lucrative in Nantes, with 500 customers recorded per day and a daily turnover oscillating between 15,000 and 30,000 euros, according to the police.

Among the seven people indicted and imprisoned, there is a 23-year-old Ukrainian, but also two Russians aged 25 and 23 responsible for the daily management of the deal point, according to the same source.

The other four people are of French nationality.

Two of them were arrested in Lille.

On site, 11 weapons were seized, including five long weapons ranging from a Kalashnikov to a submachine gun and a precision rifle with glasses, as well as 11 kg of heroin and 17 kg of cannabis.

“It is an operation which took place at 14 points which had been previously identified by the investigators, not only naturally the point of deal, but also and above all other places which were used for the storage of the goods”, indicated Renaud Gaudeul.

“We carried out a deep strike, above the front represented by the deal point,” he welcomed, recalling that in Nantes, since the start of the year, 33 people have been arrested and 19 weapons seized during seven operations against the supply of deal points.

“We have not won the battle but we are witnessing a change of gear in the fight against deal points and score settling,” added Nicolas Jolibois, interdepartmental director of the national police in Nantes.
