Yangcheng Evening News reporter Zhang Hua reported: On March 18, the reporter learned from the Greater Bay Area Medical Group that its subsidiary Ruida (Guangzhou) Medical Clinic Co., Ltd. in Nansha District became the first approved cross-border medical exchange from the mainland to Hong Kong. data enterprise.

In other words, the medical data of mainland patients (including Hong Kong residents who have long lived in mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area, the same below) can be authorized to be accessed by Hong Kong doctors.

Currently, the Greater Bay Area Medical Group is still waiting for approval for data transfer from Hong Kong to the mainland.

Once approved, two-way medical data flow can be achieved.

In recent years, as personnel exchanges between the mainland and Hong Kong have become increasingly frequent, it has become the new normal for mainland residents to work in Hong Kong and for Hong Kong residents to retire in the mainland.

However, how to promote the freer cross-border flow of high-quality medical resources and improve the convenience of cross-border medical treatment for residents of the two places has become one of the issues that need to be solved urgently.

In December 2023, in order to promote the safe and orderly flow of personal information across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Cyberspace Administration of China and the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government jointly formulated the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Mainland, Hong Kong) Personal Information" Guidelines for the Implementation of Standard Contracts for Cross-border Information Flows.

According to the reporter’s understanding, the Greater Bay Area Medical Group has entered into standard contracts with relevant departments in the mainland and Hong Kong, and has completed the contract filing with the Guangdong Provincial Internet Information Office.

On March 1 this year, Ruida (Guangzhou) Medical Clinic Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Greater Bay Area Medical Group, became the first company approved for cross-border exchange of medical data from the mainland to Hong Kong.

Dr. Li Jiachong, co-chief executive of the Greater Bay Area Medical Group, said: "Through the cross-border medical data exchange platform, mainland patients can authorize Hong Kong medical professionals to access their medical data in the mainland, including electronic medical records, imaging and laboratory test data, and Remote consultations can be conducted with Hong Kong medical professionals who have access to their electronic medical records. This saves patients the additional time and cost of repeat examinations in Hong Kong and improves their medical experience upon arrival in Hong Kong."

According to the reporter’s understanding, the data transmission party located in Nansha District is Ruida (Guangzhou) Medical Clinic Co., Ltd., which has passed internal testing.

Currently, the Greater Bay Area Medical Group is still waiting for approval for data transfer from Hong Kong to the mainland.

"When the approval is passed, two-way medical data flow will be realized, and residents will be able to choose the most cost-effective medical services in the Greater Bay Area." Li Jiacong said.
