Peskov drew the attention of journalists to two points.

“The first point is that President Putin did not confirm yesterday that negotiations had taken place,” a Kremlin spokesman said.

According to him, Putin said that “an idea was put forward by one of the people about exchanging Navalny,” to which the Russian leader potentially agreed and informed the person who put forward such an initiative about it.

At the same time, Peskov recalled that Putin did not name the person who voiced the idea of exchanging Navalny or “other modalities.”

“Accordingly, I cannot do this either,” the Kremlin representative said.

Earlier, Putin, speaking with reporters at his election headquarters, said that he agreed to the exchange of Alexei Navalny.

On February 16, Alexei Navalny died in a colony: after a walk, he felt unwell and lost consciousness.

On August 4, 2023, he was sentenced to 19 years in a special regime colony in a criminal case for creating an extremist community.
