Today, Monday, the violent clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces expanded to include, in addition to the capital, Khartoum, the cities of El Fasher (west), Babanusa (south), and Al-Faw (east), while the Rapid Support Forces previously broadcast pictures of military reinforcements in Darfur.

These developments come days after the army announced its control over large parts of the city of Omdurman, west of Khartoum.

The Sudanese army said, in separate statements, that its forces repelled an attack on the Signal Corps (affiliated with the army) in the city of Bahri, north of Khartoum, and "inflicted heavy losses on the enemy (Rapid Support) in lives and equipment."

He added that the Armored Forces forces in the Al-Shajara area, south of Khartoum, carried out qualitative operations and “destroyed the militia’s outposts” (Rapid Support) in the Jabra area.

The army also stated that its forces in the Al-Faw area, east of the country, adjacent to Al-Jazeera State (central), were able to destroy combat vehicles, and obtained others from the Rapid Support Forces.

Eyewitnesses reported to Anadolu Agency on Monday that the Rapid Support Forces attacked the leadership of the 22nd Infantry Division in the city of Babanusa in West Darfur state.

The witnesses added that the artillery shelling between the army and the Rapid Support led to civilian deaths and injuries (without mentioning a number).

The private Sudan Tribune newspaper said that the violent battles between the army and the Rapid Support in Babanusa left large numbers (it did not specify) of dead and wounded among civilians, and the displacement of tens of thousands from the city.

Clashes also renewed in the city of El Fasher, North Darfur State, on Monday morning, between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, and led to casualties among the displaced in the Naivasha camp in the city.

Adam Rahal, spokesman for the Coordination of Displaced Persons and Refugees in El Fasher city, said in a statement seen by Anadolu that 4 people in the Naivasha camp were injured, following renewed clashes in the northern neighborhoods of El Fasher city.

The Rapid Support Forces broadcast a video clip of what they said were huge military reinforcements in Darfur, heading to confront the Sudanese army in its strongholds in the Engineers Corps and the Wadi Sidna Air Base in Khartoum.

The Rapid Support Forces said, in a video broadcast on their account on the “X” platform, that the military reinforcements aim to control the army’s military areas in Omdurman.

Since mid-April 2023, the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces have been fighting a war that has left about 13,900 people dead and more than 8 million displaced and refugees, according to the United Nations.
