Cai Zhansi, President of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area of Hong Kong Xinhua Group:

Follow the national strategy and revitalize the resources of the three places to play a greater role in the construction of the Greater Bay Area.

At the Xinhua Hong Kong and Macao International Youth Entrepreneurship Center in Nansha District, Guangzhou, Cai Zhansi, president of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area of Xinhua Group in a suit and leather shoes, received a team of Macau tourism entrepreneurs who came to discuss cooperation.

He is the youngest son of Cai Guanshen, member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, president of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, and chairman of Xinhua Group. After graduating from university in 2021, he came to Guangzhou from Hong Kong and took over the business of Xinhua Group in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

In Guangzhou, Cai Zhansi discovered that although he had been to many cities in the mainland with his father since he was a child, he still encountered many "blind spots" living here.

"For example, how do people from Hong Kong and Macao open bank accounts in the mainland, apply for real-name authentication phone cards, register e-commerce accounts, etc. These problems I encountered are all problems that young people from Hong Kong and Macao may encounter when they come to the mainland to develop." This also gave him the idea to start the business The idea of the Youth Entrepreneurship Center.

In December 2021, the Xinhua Hong Kong and Macao International Youth Entrepreneurship Center led by Cai Zhansi was officially put into operation.

"Nowadays, the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail has become more frequent and the 'Hong Kong Trains Going North' has been implemented. The transportation has become more and more convenient, and the exchanges between residents of Guangdong and Hong Kong have become closer. We are full of confidence in the future of the Greater Bay Area." Cai Zhansi said , the group will closely follow the national strategy, study how to revitalize and integrate the group’s resources and advantages in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and exert greater effectiveness in the construction of the Greater Bay Area.

  ■Dialogue

Nanfang Daily: As soon as you graduate from university in 2021, you will come to Guangzhou to take over the group’s business in the Greater Bay Area.

Did you feel ready at that time?

Cai Zhansi: We are a family business. My father arranged for each of our five brothers and sisters to be responsible for the business in different regions.

I have followed my father to different cities since I was a child, not to go on vacation or travel, but to attend meetings of all sizes and get to know different people.

Subconsciously, we all know something about the group, or at least what the family business is doing.

Starting when I was 17 or 18 years old, I would come to the branch in Guangzhou every summer for an internship to gain an in-depth understanding of business development.

After graduating from college, my father felt that I should "jump out" of Hong Kong and "break out" in mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area, so he "threw" me to Guangzhou.

Frankly speaking, I was a little timid at the beginning and was a little lost when I went to different events or meetings and didn’t know anyone.

Fortunately, the group also has an experienced team here to "fight" with me, and I gradually became familiar with various tasks during the training.

Nanfang Daily: Have you encountered any difficulties because you were young?

Cai Zhansi: As a young CEO, you will indeed have many labels on you.

For example, the partner may doubt whether what you say counts, or they may prefer my father to come forward.

I will deal with these according to the actual situation.

However, times are progressing rapidly nowadays, and everyone’s stereotypes about young people have changed.

My father was involved in the company's business at the age of 18 and bought the first piece of official land in Macau at the age of 20. From this point of view, it is not a new thing for me to become the president of the Greater Bay Area of the group at the age of 21.

Nanfang Daily: What do you think about business and entrepreneurship?

Cai Zhansi: Maintaining a business is to ensure the smooth operation of our group’s original business.

At the same time, we also closely follow the national strategy and continue to explore and study how the group's business and resources in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao can be revitalized and connected for overall development to achieve greater effectiveness.

Starting a business requires building a new team, researching new ideas, and planning new projects.

The Nansha Hong Kong and Macao International Youth Entrepreneurship Center, founded in 2021, is the first new project I have handled.

When I first arrived that year, I encountered many problems in my life. For example, although I opened a mainland account in a bank in Hong Kong in advance, when I arrived, I found that the account had a limited amount and was inconvenient to use. So I opened a new account with the help of my colleagues in the mainland. Opened a bank account in the Mainland.

I realized that the problems I encountered were also encountered by other young people from Hong Kong and Macao when they came to the mainland to develop.

In addition, they also need to understand local market conditions, laws and regulations, preferential policies, etc. when starting a business.

Therefore, we hope that the Youth Entrepreneurship Center can become their "guide", provide corresponding guidance and suggestions for their entrepreneurship, help them connect with the upstream and downstream industrial chains, and at the same time help Hong Kong and Macao youths integrate into local life better and faster.

Today, there are 63 entrepreneurial teams settled in the Youth Entrepreneurship Center, 47 of which are from Hong Kong, and the remaining teams are from Macau, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Cameroon, etc.

In the future, we also hope to introduce entrepreneurial teams from the mainland. We hope that everyone can work and live together to inspire more highlights.

Nanfang Daily: Now that you have lived in Guangzhou for more than two years, what are your personal feelings about the integrated development of the Greater Bay Area?

Cai Zhansi: I am very adaptable to life in Guangzhou because Cantonese is spoken and Cantonese food is eaten here, and many living habits are very similar to those in Hong Kong.

I deeply feel that the Greater Bay Area has the same cultural origins, close connections among people, and similar folk customs.

Nowadays, cross-border high-speed trains are running more frequently, and "Hong Kong trains heading north" have been implemented. As transportation becomes more efficient and convenient, people between Guangdong and Hong Kong have closer exchanges. I have friends who live in Tuen Mun, Hong Kong. I often drive to Shenzhen to buy groceries; at the same time, the Greater Bay Area has achieved mutual recognition of professional qualifications in many fields, making it easier for Hong Kong professionals to develop in the mainland. Hong Kong also has the "High Talent Program" and "Excellent Talent Program" to attract mainlanders Talents come to Hong Kong for employment and life, which is conducive to promoting the in-depth integrated development of the Greater Bay Area.

We are always confident in the future of the Greater Bay Area, and the Group will also focus on the development here in the future, paying particular attention to the development opportunities of the four major cooperation platforms.

At the same time, we are also aware that ASEAN is an emerging market with great potential. In the future, we will strengthen resource docking with the Group's ASEAN region, promote more cooperation, and help enhance the international competitiveness of the Greater Bay Area.
