Ramadan customs and traditions in Sudan are similar among most tribes, and they all share that this month is the month of goodness, and one of the most important features of Ramadan in Sudan is the custom of breaking the fast together among neighbors in the streets.

But the strange thing, which is common to most areas in Sudan during the holy month of Ramadan, happens an hour before the time of the Maghrib call to prayer, as residents block the road and intercept travel buses, and this custom is similar to an ambush.

This ambush is set up to force the fasting travelers to get off and eat breakfast, by placing the Sudanese turban in the middle of the road, and then the head of the family comes to welcome the bus passengers, who may number dozens.

This inevitable generosity causes a dispute among citizens regarding who will honor travelers on the road and have the honor of serving them during breakfast first.

Sometimes the matter requires the intervention of philanthropists to divide the guests among all the tables.

This ancient, renewed Ramadan custom remains steadfast and consistent, regardless of the vicissitudes and cruelty of life, in light of the horrific political and economic collapse in Sudan.
