Last January, the American president was the victim of a hoax: a voice generated by artificial intelligence called on New Hampshire voters not to vote in the Democratic primary.
Now, an association for the protection of civil rights is demanding accountability and bringing those responsible for this fraud to justice.
Behind this false call, two Texan companies and one man: Steve Kramer.
He then advised one of Joe Biden's opponents in the campaign.
He admitted last month to being behind the operation, “
an act of civil disobedience
” according to him, to “
warn people about the dangers of AI
”.
The plaintiffs fear that the practice will grow, and are asking for it to be stopped, but also for damages: $7,500 for each person who received a call.
The authorities estimate that there are 25,000 in total.
