launched a massive drone strike on Sunday as Russians voted on the final day of a presidential election aimed at extending President

's rule for another six years.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported the downing of 35 Ukrainian drones overnight, including four in the

Moscow

region .

According to the Defense Ministry, two other drones were fired over the Kaluga region, just south of the Russian capital, and the Yaroslavl region, northeast of Moscow.

More Ukrainian drones were shot down over the Belgorod, Kursk and Rostov regions bordering

Ukraine

and the southern Krasnodar region.

In addition,

claims to have shot down 12 rockets launched from

Ukraine

towards the Russian region of Belgorod.

A new drone attack, attributed to

, caused a fire at a refinery in southern

Russia

, Krasnodar regional authorities said on Sunday morning, reporting one death following a suspected heart attack.

"The fire on the territory of the Slavyansk oil refinery is now completely extinguished," the operations headquarters of the Krasnodar region reported on Telegram.

"According to preliminary information, one person died at the time of the drone attack and the probable cause of death was a heart attack."

Russian drone attack on Odessa damages agricultural industries and companies

Russian airstrikes damaged agricultural businesses and destroyed several industrial buildings in the Black Sea port of Odessa overnight, Ukrainian forces said Sunday.

Russia launched 16 drones and seven missiles, the Ukrainian air force published on the Telegram messaging application.

Fourteen drones were destroyed over the Odessa region.

The third and final day of the Russian presidential elections begins

Today, Russia

celebrates the third and final day of the presidential elections, in which more than half of the 112 million Russians called to the polls have already participated.

In this country of eleven time zones, schools opened at 8:00 p.m. GMT on Saturday in the Kamchatka peninsula and will close at 6:00 p.m. GMT on Sunday in the Baltic enclave of Kaliningrad, after which the first official preliminary results will be known.

According to the Central Election Commission (CEC), more than 50% of voters exercised their right to vote on Friday and Saturday, while 2.6 million did so in advance, many of them soldiers and inhabitants of the Ukrainian regions annexed by Russia.
