Events in Toronto, Canada, in solidarity with the residents of the Gaza Strip (social media)

Activists supporting Palestine gathered in front of a party in Toronto, Canada, to collect electoral donations for some representatives, in the presence of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and denounced their support for the occupation and genocide of the Palestinian people since the seventh of last October.

The protesters chanted against the policy of the Canadian government and parliamentarians towards the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, and in light of the ongoing starvation and siege of the people of the Strip since the outbreak of the war.

The fasting Muslims gathered to break their fast and pray for Palestine, while a number of them documented the police’s suppression of peaceful protesters in solidarity with Palestine, and their pursuit on horses. The police used excessive force to disperse the demonstrators, beat them, and arrested a number of them.

Earlier, dozens of supporters of Palestine organized a protest inside the Faculty of Law at the Canadian University of Windsor, where students and academics lay down in the lobby and library of the college to denounce what they described as the Canadian government’s complicity in the genocide committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people since the seventh of last October.

The students chanted against the academic silence in Canadian and Western universities regarding the demolition and bombing of schools and universities in Gaza, the killing of thousands of students from various educational levels, and the bulldozing of the scientific and cultural heritage of the Palestinian people within a plan of ethnic cleansing.

Canada witnessed many demonstrations and events in solidarity with Palestine, denouncing the position of the Trudeau government, and escalating tensions between supporters of the Palestinian cause and Prime Minister Trudeau, who opposes the lawsuit filed by South Africa against Israel before the International Court of Justice in The Hague. The National Council of Canadian Muslims considered that “this was the straw that broke.” "I broke the camel's back."

Trudeau had announced his opposition to South Africa's lawsuit against Israel, saying during a press conference that his country appreciated the role of the court, but that did not mean that its position would support describing Israel as committing "genocide."

Since the seventh of last October, Israel has continued its aggression against Gaza, which has so far led to the martyrdom of more than 31,000 Palestinians, most of whom are women and children, in addition to the destruction of infrastructure and service facilities and the displacement and starvation of the population.
