An NPO in Kanagawa Prefecture that is working to support the Gaza Strip, where Israeli military operations continue, delivered medicines such as antibiotics and painkillers for approximately 1,000 people to a local public hospital.

According to health authorities in the Gaza Strip, more than 30,000 people have died so far, and the humanitarian situation is deteriorating, with severe food shortages.

Norihiko Kuwayama, a doctor who graduated from Yamagata University and the representative of the NPO "Earth Stage" based in Kanagawa Prefecture, has visited the Gaza Strip more than 40 times, where nearly 1.5 million people, including evacuees, have visited. Since last year, we have been making preparations to deliver medicines and other supplies to a public hospital in Rafah, the southern city where I live.

According to the NPO, six types of medicines procured by local staff, including antibiotics for patients with infectious diseases and painkillers used for surgeries for injured patients, for approximately 1,000 people were delivered to public hospitals on the 13th of this month, local time. It means that it was done.

The approximately 1.2 million yen cost was made using funds provided by Japan Platform, which supports the activities of Japanese NPOs and other organizations.

The NPO was scheduled to deliver the medical supplies in December last year, but due to a reduction in the amount of supplies entering the field and being forced to suspend activities to ensure the safety of staff, the delivery was delayed by about three months. It was a support.

Representative Kuwayama said, ``This is the first time I've experienced it being so difficult to deliver medicines, but I'm glad we were able to deliver them. Our individual efforts may be small, but we will continue to provide medicines and other supplies.''
