According to the department, Shoigu visited the Black Sea Fleet as part of a working trip to the troops of the Southern Military District.
“The minister heard reports from the fleet command and staff officers on the current situation, the nature of the enemy’s actions and the execution of combat missions by fleet units in their area of responsibility,” the statement said.
Earlier, the governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, said that the loud sounds that were heard in the city center were associated with a planned training of the Black Sea Fleet.
