The duo of Egyptian artist Mai Omar and her husband, director Mohamed Sami, returns through the series “Namat Al Avocato,” which is competing in the first half of the current Ramadan marathon.

The couple previously worked together in the series “Nasl Al-Agharab” in 2021, which brought them together with the stars Ahmed El-Sakka and Amir Karara. Sami also directed Omar’s first absolute dramatic starring role in the series “Lul’” in 2020.

Despite the success of “Avocato Blessing” in being on the list of the most watched works in Ramadan 2024 on the various broadcasting platforms that display the work, the Sami-Omar duet made some mistakes that it had previously committed in previous works, the most prominent of which we monitor below:

Weak dramatic plot

We are still watching the first episodes of “The Blessing of Avocato,” which revolves around a young lawyer who, overnight, becomes wealthy after winning an important case.

The work includes many flashbacks that depict Nehme's past, without showing the background that made her a successful lawyer who is assigned major cases in exchange for millions of pounds by a prominent figure in society, while her office is in a popular area.

Despite showing the extent of her personal acumen, her husband Salah (Ahmed Zaher) succeeds in exploiting her with absolute ease, despite her prior knowledge of his extreme jealousy of her success.

However, she gave him 8 million Egyptian pounds without any clear dramatic justification.

Omar's appearance in the first scenes of the series with full makeup and flowing hair also surprised the audience, as she was escaping from the grave after her husband buried her alive after he learned of her desire to take revenge on him.

The viewer can also notice the “stretch” and lengthening of scenes and events, even though the series includes only 15 episodes.

Weak Arabic language

Director Mohamed Sami appeared in a television interview a few days ago to say that Omar made a great effort during the preparation period for “Avocato Blessing” to gain weight in order to resemble the women of the social class that the series deals with.

As for the heroine of the work, she said that she suffered psychological exhaustion while preparing for the work, and that she made a great effort to master the classical Arabic language and legal terminology under the training of a legal advisor.

Despite this, the audience was surprised by the weakness of her Arabic language during the first episodes, especially in the pleading scene before the court, which was full of linguistic and grammatical errors.

"Jaafar Al-Umda", present and absent

It seems that Sami is still living on the overwhelming success of his series “Jaafar Al-Omda” by Mohamed Ramadan, which was shown in Ramadan 2023, which made him refrain from taking any risks in “The Bliss of Avocato” and resort to most of the makers of “Jaafar Al-Omda,” starting with writing the script with Mohab Tariq, who Use similar conversational terms to last year's series.

The championship was also awarded to more than 50% of the heroes of “Jaafar Al-Omda.”

The most prominent of them are Salwa Othman, Tariq Al-Nahri, and Lubna Wenes, in addition to stars with whom Sami has previously collaborated in his previous works, such as Ahmed Zaher, with whom he participated in “The Prince,” “Pearls,” “The Story of a Life,” and “Adam.”

The soundtrack was not free from repetition, so the director of “Nima Al-Avocato” resorted to music that made the viewer feel that he was watching one of the episodes of “Jaafar Al-Omda” due to the strong similarity. It was composed by Haitham Nabil and arranged by Khaled Nabil.

Finally, some expressed their dissatisfaction with Mohamed Sami and Mai Omar’s announcement that “The Blessing of Avocato” became the topic of discussion on social networking sites in Egypt and Saudi Arabia after the first episode of the work was shown.

But on the other hand, former Egyptian Minister of Information Anas Al-Feki, and director and producer Magdy Al-Hawari, praised the series and Omar’s performance.
