The star from Quebec, who was diagnosed in the fall of 2022 with a rare neurological disease called stiff person syndrome, said that overcoming this disease “was one of the most difficult experiences” in her life.

She added in a comment that she accompanied with a rare photo in which she appears smiling with her three children on World Awareness Day for this disease, “I am still determined to return to the stage one day and live a normal life as much as possible.”

The 55-year-old singer confirmed that she is "extremely grateful for the love and support of my children, my family, my team, and all of you!"

Celine Dion's last public appearance was in a brief surprise appearance during the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, USA, in early February to present the Album of the Year award to Taylor Swift.

In this appearance accompanied by her eldest son, the artist, who sold more than 250 million albums during her artistic career that began 4 decades ago, received warm applause from the audience.

The Canadian star's last concert dates back to March 2020 in the city of Newark in the eastern United States.

Her world tour, titled "Courage", was then halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since 2021, Celine Dion has been suffering from the consequences of having stiff person syndrome.

This syndrome affects approximately one in every million people, and causes severe pain and difficulty in movement, which prevents physical activity.

At the end of February, Amazon Prime Video announced its intention to release a documentary about the singer entitled “I Am: Celine Dion,” through which she wants to “raise awareness” of her disease.
