Umrah during the month of Ramadan witnesses a large influx of Muslims around the world (Reuters)

To ease crowding during the holy month of Ramadan, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced that permits cannot be issued to perform Umrah twice or more in the holy month of Ramadan, noting that only performing Umrah once in Ramadan achieves many benefits.

The Saudi Ministry noted, in a statement, that restricting one Umrah during Ramadan aims to reduce crowding, provide opportunity for others, cooperate in organizing, and make things easier for Muslims.

According to the “Nusk” platform, if you wish to issue a permit for Umrah for the second time, a message appears stating, “Issuance of the permit failed. To allow everyone the opportunity to perform Umrah, it is not possible to repeat Umrah during the month of Ramadan.”

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, in cooperation with the Saudi Tourism Authority, launched the “Nusk” platform in 2022, to allow Muslims from all over the world an easy travel experience to Mecca and Medina, and help simplify the Hajj and Umrah journey and obtain many services remotely.

According to the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, “The number of Umrah pilgrims reached 13.55 million during the Ramadan season last year, thanks to the facilities provided. This is the largest increase in the history of Umrah pilgrims from outside the Kingdom, as the number of Umrah pilgrims is estimated at 5 million, an increase of 58%.” .

The Saudi government has developed a plan to raise the capacity of pilgrims to 30 million pilgrims and 5.4 million pilgrims in 2030.
